Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute One of Italy’s foremost wine families, the Folonaris are originally from the North of Italy. In the early 20th century they bought Chianti Ruffino in Tuscany and grew it to become one of the world icons for Chianti Classico. In 2000, the family split, and Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari Tenute (Estates) was founded by father Ambrogio and son Giovanni, Chairman and Managing Director respectively. The company’s mission is to produce high quality wines from Tuscany. Its estates include two properties in Chianti Classico (Nozzole and Cabreo, the latter producing only Igt), with the other properties in Montalcino (La Fuga), Montepulciano (Torcalvano Gracciano), Bolgheri (Campo al Mare) and Montecucco (Vigne a Porrona).

Nozzole Estate located in the heart of Chianti Classico, not far from Greve in Chianti and only 30 minutes from Florence, was purchased by the Folonari family in 1971. It consists of a total of 385 hectares, 90 of which are vineyards and 15 olive groves. The remainder of the estate is covered by a magnificent secular pine tree forest.
